Academic medical executive brings decades of expertise in operational efficiency

(Omaha, NE) — Kada Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Hingtgen as its newest senior advisor, specializing in financial management and strategic planning. With more than 30 years of experience in enterprise-wide management of academic medical centers, Hingtgen joins Kada Health to strengthen its mission of delivering smarter, physician-led solutions for healthcare systems nationwide.

Hingtgen’s career began at Washington University School of Medicine, where his work with researchers addressing the impact of Alzheimer’s on caregivers ultimately led to a role managing budgets and operations for the Department of Neurology.  He subsequently returned to his home state of Iowa to accept a leadership position in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa.

Over the course of his 23 years there, Hingtgen was responsible for the financial performance of the Department of Internal Medicine, oversaw the health system’s imaging enterprise, and provided system-wide leadership as assistant CFO for the University of Iowa Healthcare. In this latter role, he oversaw enterprise-wide budgeting and led planning for capital reinvestment for both the clinical and research enterprise. He then joined Johns Hopkins Medicine as Chief Financial Officer for the School of Medicine, managing finances across the clinical, research and academic domains.

“Mark’s approach is rooted in people, not just numbers,” said Shane Cerone, president and CEO of Kada Health. “His technical expertise and ability to align financial planning set a new bar for what strategic advising can do for health systems.”

In his role at Kada Health, Hingtgen will use his expertise in clinical operations and financial management to support all types of provider organizations, including academic and community-based health systems, as well as practice plans and physician group practices. His focus will be on helping organizations manage external financial shifts, diversifying revenue streams and tailoring resources to enhance clinical efficiency and improve quality.

“I look forward to bringing a practical lens to some of healthcare’s most pressing challenges,” said Hingtgen. “Whether it’s helping independent practices stand on their own or guiding large health systems toward meaningful transformations, Kada Health’s model allows my colleagues and I to be thoughtful and impactful in sharing our hands-on experiences and expertise leading and managing complex organizations.”

Hingtgen’s academic and financial expertise reinforces Kada Health’s growing presence as a trusted partner in healthcare innovation for organizations seeking sustainable operational and financial change.
